Med förväntansfull entusiasm öppnar vi den 19 september den 4:e upplagan av DURATIONAL SPACE med två konstnärer som tar tung handfast skulptur in i en drömsk poetiskt bildvärld i rörelse. Stolt kan vi presentera Signe Johannessens Holy mare och Jenny Bergs Canary whirl, bakom scenen, två nyproducerade performanceverk där publiken kan komma och gå som de vill under de 3 timmar verken pågår. Varje konstnär har själv format platsen utifrån gemensamma förutsättningar. Ni rör er fritt fån verk till verk och kan stanna så länge ni önskar. Allt efter de fem nya verken växer fram berättar vi mer om konstnärerna och vad du kan komma att förvänta dig av dessa täta performancetimmar. Curatorer för DURATIONAL SPACE: LILITH – Elin Lundgren och Petter Pettersson Med DURATIONAL SPACE undersöker LPS ett nytt format för studion, parallellt med kärnverksamheten med storskaliga soloperformance. Tanken är en öppen och generös visning av performancekonst, där besökare kan vandra fritt och uppleva två eller flera separata performanceverk under samma kväll. DURATIONAL SPACE öppnar upp studion och ger oss möjlighet att visa fler konstnärer under en längre tid i en form som ligger närmare utställning än föreställning. Signe Johannessens performance Holy Mare tar oss ner i en barock sadelkammare där bottenlösa behov av makt, intimitet och kärlek prövas i relation till den otämjda hästen på gränsen till övergrepp.
I Canary whirl, bakom scenen, iscensätter Jenny Berg en central upplevelse, ett minne som hon försökt materialisera många gånger tidigare. Som vanligt tycks de valda materialen för grova, mekaniken för klumpig och berättelsen alltför exakt formulerad.

With eager enthusiasm, we open the fourth edition of DURATIONAL SPACE on September 19th, featuring two artists who bring heavy-handed sculpture into a dreamlike, poetic visual world in motion. We are proud to present Signe Johannessens’ Holy Mare and Jenny Berg’s Canary Whirl, behind the stage, two newly produced performance works where the audience can come and go as they please during the three hours the works are in progress.
Signe Johannessen – Holy mare
Signe Johannessens performance Holy Mare takes us down into a baroque tack room where bottomless needs for power, intimacy, and love are tested in relation to the untamed horse on the verge of abuse.
Jenny Berg – Canary Whirl, bakom scenen

In Canary Whirl, behind the stage, Jenny Berg stages a central experience, a memory she has tried to materialize many times before. As usual, the chosen materials seem too coarse, the mechanics too clumsy, and the narrative too precisely formulated. A group of theater technicians experiment with glittery effects, set pieces, kiosk owners, and old relatives. They assemble and disassemble the scene, sometimes lovingly and sometimes brutally, in search of something that can resemble what happened.

DURATIONAL SPACE #5 opens on November 21 with five newly produced performance works by artists
Roxy Farhat, Salad Hilowle, Elias Björn, Andreas Engman, Josefina Björk.
All performances take place simultaneously, in the same room, for 3 hours. Each artist has shaped their space based on common conditions. You can move freely from work to work and stay as long as you wish. As the five new works take shape, we will share more about the artists and what you can expect from these intense performance hours.
Curators for DURATIONAL SPACE: LILITH – Elin Lundgren and Petter Pettersson.
With DURATIONAL SPACE, LPS is exploring a new format for the studio, alongside its core activity of large-scale solo performances. The idea is an open and generous display of performance art, where visitors can wander freely and experience two or more separate performances on the same evening. DURATIONAL SPACE opens up the studio and allows us to showcase more artists over a longer period in a form that is closer to an exhibition than a performance.
